This sunrise photo was taken this past July in the BWCA, on Spice Lake.
I think it turned out pretty good for a disposable camera...

Satchmoa,

Did you go all the way up to LaCroix in this trip? Would make a great trip report!

Not sure why I have to write anything here. I was covering the Beargrease race and caught this moment at the Caribou trail crossing Jan 26 2009 just before dusk with nice light filtering through the trees. This is Jenny Freking coming in, she and her husband Blake are running neck and neck in this race and it is very exciting and rather fascinating.

Winner Announced!

I made my decision, I was struck by mood of the gunflint pines in fog. I am a softie on mood in photographs. To me it is what stirs the emotions. For me, this has always been the entry point into the Gunflint......passing thru these majestic trees, not knowing what adventures lie ahead...hence, the fog, not seeing all. The gloom of a foggy dark day symbolizes the hardships these trees have undergone, yet still stand. They are comrades of the forest, slowly watching each other pass away until one day we will be driving up the trail and they will be gone. So enjoy them!!! I also commend Ken's bird photography. I wish I had his patience!! Congratulations to all.
