Good Condition. The majority of the trail has been groomed. Wet areas continue East of Tower. As always, please use extreme caution and watch for ice flowages and brush over-hanging on trail.

Base: 6-12"
Snow Depth in Woods: 20-24"

The trail stretches one hundred sixty five miles from Grand Rapids to Ely through many scenic vistas of rolling hillsides, lakes, rivers and forests. The trail also has a connector trail to the new Lake Vermilion State Park trails

I put 200 miles on my sled last Thursday using the Laurention Trail, the Taconite Trail, Arrowhead and Taconite Spur and all were as good as I've ever seen them.
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Conditions vary widely from poor-fair. Northern Itasca County has twice as much snow as most other areas in the south. We do not anticipate another groom until further significant snowfall. The trail is closed between the east Clearwater intersection and County Road 50 because of a flooded trail segment with poor ice conditions. Please use the Clearwater and Lawron Trail to bypass this segment.

Base:  1-3"
Woods:  5-10"

The trail received an additional 10" of snow on 2/10/13. We will be grooming again mid-week. Expect very good riding conditions with the exception of a few areas where active logging is occurring. Conditions may vary in those areas. Watch for logging near County Road 53, the south intersection of the Bear Lake Trail and east intersection with the Clearwater Trail. Icy conditions exist between county road 60 and the Clearwater trail because logging activity is occuring. Due to early January rain and ice, be cautious of icy conditions on all area trails.

Base: 6-8"
Woods: 19-24"

Heard that we have gotten snow in Ely (since we've been in Indy for a sport show) so there should be plenty to run on.
Not to commercialize, but just to let you know I am one of those "outfitter types" :-)

Comments:  The trail is in very good condition with no sign of spring in sight. The trail will continue to be groomed on a regular schedule until we start getting warmer weather. This is a great time to be out there. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Base:  4"
Woods:  18-24"

Comments:  The trail is currently in pretty good shape but with these sunny days and temps in the 40's it will quickly deteriorate. Several bare spots exist and rocks may be exposed so use caution. The trail will no longer be groomed. Enjoy it while it lasts.
