What city/ town/ outpost of the Boundary Waters offers the best full service amenities? Even if it's a tourist trap. . . we'll be tourists, driving a cheap rental car, but we'll be doing our best not to stand out, like most SPORs!

I would recommend either Ely, or Grand Marais. If you would like to spend some time along Lake Superior - I would recommend Grand Marais. If you want outfitters located right in town, I would recommend Ely. Both towns have a fine selection of lodging, restaurants, gift shops, bait shops, etc.
