Authorities have recovered the body of a canoeist who had been reported missing in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area.

Members of the Lake County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue team, St. Louis County Rescue and the U.S. Forest Service found the body of a 43-year-old Iowa man about 8:45 p.m. Monday in about 15 feet of water in Lake Two of the BWCA, said Lake County Undersheriff Jerry Norberg.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was paddling across the lake with another person when the canoe capsized. The victim fell into the water and did not resurface. The other person made it to safety, Norberg said.
