McCarthy Beach State Park
Side Lake, MN
From the town of Hibbing, take U.S. Highway 169 north to County Road 5, then 16 miles to the park.

Snow Depth: 14"
Condition: Good

The park has 9 miles of cross-country trails and 12 miles of groomed snowmobile trails available in the winter. The park snowmobile trails connect to the Taconite State Trail and the Tim Corey trail. Non-heated trail shelters are available. Snowshoeing is permitted anywhere in the park except on groomed ski trails.

The park is open year-around for day use. Parking lots are plowed at the picnic shelter and office for walk-in angler access to the lakes. Snowshoeing on the unplowed campground roads is also popular.

The campground is closed between November 25th and March 30th. The actual reopening date will depend on when the snow melts in the spring.
