May 14th 2008 Wildflower Report

Spring is just beginning here in Cook County. On the Pike Lake Road we saw a few Bloodroot, some Spring Beauty, two yellow violets and one or two Wood Anemones. We then went up the Gunflint Trail, past the second set of brown signs and were treated to many Trailing Arbutus.

Lunch at Kimball Campground where we saw our first loon of the season.
