Fire Ban on the Superior Hiking Trail

CAMPFIRE BAN: Due to the extremely dry conditions, the Department of Natural Resources and the Superior National Forest have banned all campfires in Lake, Cook and St. Louis counties. This means absolutely no campfires on the Superior Hiking Trail. Camp stoves are okay but use extreme caution. The Superior Hiking Trail Association is posting this order on all our trailhead signs September 16, 2011. We’ll post again when the order has been lifted.

As they say, it's better to be safe than sorry. We are supposed to camp out on those days but oh well... of course we were scared of the warning. :)
