Secluded Smallmouth out of Ely? Help Please

Postby KC Canoe Camper » Thu Apr 04, 2013 9:32 am

Planning a return to Ely in June (10th trip into BWCAW?)

5 day trip.

Seeking solitude and smallmout fishing.

Willing and able to work hard to get there - tough/long portages are welcome if result is solitude and plenty of smallies.

Thanks for any suggestions.

So, did you find somewhere to go for the smallies this month?
Not to commercialize, but just to let you know I am one of those "outfitter types" :-)

Putting in June 8 via Crab Lake.
Not sure where from there.
Suggestions appreciated.
Thanks.

Luckily, if you go to the Crab Lake area, you'll find smallies almost everywhere! :-)

A lot of times the smallie action is good in Coxey Pond, where not as many people go. Nice big campsite there too.
