Learning to Fish

Postby GUEST » Wed Jul 08, 2009 1:47 pm

Hi Folks

I had a very nice camping experience I had with my 9 year
old daughter who asked "Next time we camp, can we go fishing?" I've said
sure, but I haven't fished for 35 years (when I was just a kid). Can you
give me a resource on learning to fish? What sort of rod should we get? What
tackle will we need? I'll probably be at a place, which on top of Jackfish I believe also has some fresh
water perch, pike and trout (I think).

Thanks a ton,

Wayne

Stop by a local bait shop, sporting good store or a gas station that sells fishing licenses go and tell them that it's a first time fishing trip and ask them what lures, bait, etc that they're biting. You still may get skunked but the locals usually know what and where they're biting at mini marshmallows or spinners or flies.

If you are going up Fall Lake to Jackfish, by all means stop in at our place. We aren't only a canoe trip outfitter but we also have the largest bait shop in Ely.

Stop in & tell them that you were at this board and Lynn told you to come by & get the up to the date fishing advice. If you don't catch fish, then you forgot to put your hook in the water! :-) Seriously, you could still get skunked but not very likely.
Not to commercialize, but just to let you know I am one of those "outfitter types" :-)

Browse through the playlists and my videos. There are lots of tips in the over 500 videos I am sharing knowledge about.
The main thing with kids is keep it simple. You and the kids can learn together.
