You will need a Minnesota state fishing license. Fishing licenses are available from most outfitters, bait shops, and Holiday gas stations. There is not a special fishing permit for the BWCA. If you plan to go into the Quetico, you will also need a Canadian fishing license.

To enter the BWCA, you need an entry permit. Daily permits are free and are available from outfitters, ranger station, or at the entry point only the day of entry. Overnight permits are available online, through outfitters, or through the ranger stations, but should be gotten far in advance.
